Pictures from the Vancouver, WA to Spokane, WA

The cold and rainy weather we experienced as the train left Vancouver cleared up as we went
along the Columbia River. Here the train does a photo runby at Avery, WA.

The photo runby. The light was perfect for both the runbys (at Avery and Ritzville) done over the four days.

Here is the dome car I rode in: The Silver Scene.

A view from a vestibule door along the Columbia River.

The typical view from the vista dome on day 2. Note how the terrain changes
from forest near Vancouver to high desert in western Washington.

I rode the train the first two days and chased it the third day. Here, on the third day, is the train just
outside of Spokane. Note the diesel behind the 700, added due to the engine's problems the previous day.

The 700 will soon duck under the highway underpass I am standing on.

The view from the other side of the highway underpass. The whole train is visible in this view.
Note how evergreen trees suddenly appear on the landscape as you approach Spokane.
